Other Info

The YoYo Rock and Roll bed is a centered frame with slight overhang on each side.

The centered frame with slight overhang on each side allows the seat bed to be fitted on either the nearside or the offside, and it can also be used for LHD vehicles. Additionally, the frame fits over the arch like a standard bed, but it can also be center-mounted in larger vehicles without compromising the fitting space.

What is a rock and roll bed?
A classic rock and roll bed is a seat for travelling that can turn into a bed and is typically found in campervans. There are several different designs available in the UK, some M1 tested and some just MOT compliant.

Are rock and roll beds legal?
As a minimum you want to ensure that the seat/bed is MOT compliant, this means the seat has seatbelts and is fixed to the van floor. An MOT compliant bed though normally means, not pull tested, so although it will pass an MOT you won’t know how the seat or its installation will behave in an accident. For added peace of mind we always recommend that you are looking for M1 tested seats in the UK.

How do I know if my rock and roll bed is M1 tested?
Speak with the manufacturer and ask for the certification. If you are unsure of the manufacturer, look for identifying marks on the frame that might indicate who designed and manufactured the seat.

Are rock and roll bed crash tested?
Be careful not to confuse M1 tested with crash tested, as these two statements mean very different things. In the UK you likely find that most seats will be M1 pull tested, but rarely, if at all, will you find a seat that has been crash tested. A crash test would require the seat fitted into a van, whereas a pull test is the seat fixed to a rig style setup to see if the seat and installation can withstand up to 10 ton pull pressure.

What is the alternative to a rock and roll bed?
Although still considered a rock and roll bed, the RIB bed represents a big step up in overall quality and design which is why RIB brand carries a strong reputation in the UK.

Can you travel on a rock and roll bed?
Yes, this is one of the key components of a rock and roll bed, you should expect to be able to travel safely with seatbelts and also expect to be able to quickly turn the seat into a bed.

Can you fit a rock and roll bed yourself?
Yes, many customers decide to do this themselves to save on fitting costs. Its important that you follow any fitting instructions provided otherwise you may void the safety certification. You should also be comfortable drilling the van floor and using various tools to make up the floor and also be comfortable working underneath vehicle to secure the seat. If this doesn’t sound like something you would like to do you can contact us direct or use our fitting map to find a reputable fitter in your area.

Do rock and roll beds have IsoFix?
In the main, no. The rock and roll beds we sell do not have IsoFix but there are some on the market that do. When doing your research be sure that the IsoFix is part of the frame, and not an addition to the frame. Any RIB branded seats will now come with IsoFix as standard.

Can you put a rock and roll bed on rails?
Yes, head over to our YoYo GlideMotion page for more info on this.

What is a 3/4 rock and roll bed?
3/4 represents the amount of space the seat would take up in a standard fitment and is normally considered 112cm wide. When fitted the seat will take up approximately 3/4 of the available width in the back.

Can you fit a rock and roll bed into a VW Caddy?
The rock and roll beds we sell would not be suitable for the Caddy or similar sized vehicles as they sit too high. We do however import RIB bed 104cm with lowered frames and reduced length for these exact types of vehicles.
