The RIB bed on rails – GlideMotion V2 Rail System for the 112cm, 120xl or 150cm RIB Altair Seat. Designed and developed in house, certificated M1 pull tested in conjunction with the RIB Altair 112cm / 150cm seat design.
The new V2 GlideMotion has lock-off points every 5 inches and is primarily a bonded system with just four bolts per rail for location and full length rails. We are no longer using a sledge system and now use two feet to support the seat and ensure a smooth and easy to operate system.
*The 150cm GlideMotion will continue to run on the original version whilst we await testing on the new design for this seat size
Our Glidemotion rails and housing allow the RIB Altair seat to smoothly slide from the rear to the front of the van with multiple lock off points along the way. This versatile layout allows for the passengers to travel closer to front, much like in a Kombivan arrangement with a large boot space behind the seat.
Our RIB seat on rails allows for the perfect campervan layout. This is because the seat can be positioned at the very rear of the van when needed. This flexibility allows for a variety of configurations to suit your specific needs.

**Please note: Our GlideMotion seat and rail systems are not compatible with other seats. This means that you must purchase the seat and rails together as a complete kit. GlideMotion is suitable for the vehicles listed below:
We use SikaFlex 554 300ml x 4 for bonding of the rails (Sold separately)
Advantages of having a movable seat position;
The design and development of the new RIB Altair bed seat on sliding rails has taken some time. Firstly, we aimed to keep the rail depth as shallow as possible. Secondly, we were working on moving toward a bonded system, because this would allow the design to be used in more vehicles, both now and later on. In addition, we also wanted to make sure the seat could be removed whenever the van’s full loading space was required.
Below, we list some of the key specifications of the RIB bed on rails – GlideMotion Rail System.
The optional under seat storage unit provides neat secure storage without compromising the use of the seat.
The fitted price will include the RIB seat on rails – GlideMotion Rail System, RIB 112cm, 120xl or 150cm Altair seat with integral headrests, new flooring, floor insulation, new side step and rear threshold where required.

What is a RIB seat on rails?
A RIB bed on rails is exactly as it sounds, instead of having a fixed bed at the back of the van you can have a versatile seat/bed setup that will allow you to position the seat according to your needs. If you are travelling with passengers its always nice to have them closer to the front when travelling, or, if you want to maximise the living space, push the seat all the way to the back. This can also be great when you want to use the loadspace of the van for something other than camping, just push the seat to the front or remove the seat entirely.
Our current GlideMotion setup is available for both VW Transporter and Transit Custom setups, in either 112cm or 150cm wide options.
Can you put a rock and roll bed on rails?
Yes, head over to our YoYo GlideMotion page for more info. Although a slight difference in the rail design itself the interaction and operation of the system will be identical to our RIB bed on rails, the only change of note being the seat.
Can I fit rails for a RIB seat into my van?
Currently we can guarantee and supply templates for fitting to either the VW Transporter or the Ford Transit Custom. We can also confirm that the system will fit to a T4 with some minor adjustments and also into the front half of the Sprinter / Crafter range. Although we wouldn’t discount any van, we will only supply for vehicles where we can guarantee the safe install and operation of the system. Feel free to get in touch to discuss any other vehicles and we will be happy to see if we can help.
How easy is it to install rails into my van?
Our GlideMotion RIB bed on rails has been designed so that the system can be installed on your driveway. If you are doing it at home you will likely need chocks so that you can easily access the underside. Our recommendation is always to speak with a recommended fitter in your area but we have seen 100’s of at-home installs that look amazing.
Its important to note that you will need to drill holes in your van floor, install a new floor from scratch and be comfortable working underneath the vehicle. For more information have a read of our fitting guide as this will give you great insight into the detail of the fitting, we are always on hand to offer support where needed.
Can I fit my RIB seat to your rails?
Sadly, our RIB bed on rails system is not backward compatible with your already owned RIB bed. We order in bespoke frames from Scopema to suit our sledge and rail design. These frames are then prepped further and manufactured to further suit our rail system. When buying the full kit from us including seat you aren’t just getting the product but our full support and advise when you need it. Because we know that both the seat and the rails have been bought from us we can guarantee that we can resolve any concerns you might have in the future.
